Riding and writing

The Vee Bar Ranch, near Laramie, is on a high plain in the Southeast corner of the state of Wyoming.  I was there for a 5 day retreat: riding, writing, seeing wildlife, in great company. We were lucky to have mostly sunny days, though it was windy and quite cool (long underwear cool) at times. It was an amazing experience - watching the herd of horses run past, going to pasture in the late afternoon; seeing a round pen young horse training session; sitting by the fire in the lodge writing; hearing about endurance riding; best of all riding out and never going on the same trail twice - we saw pronghorn antelope, a fox, a mother elk with her minutes old calf, moose, rabbits, hawks and eagles. It was magical.
